There’s a particular kind of shoot that doesn’t come with a big brief or a tight deadline. Just a summer evening, a beautiful space, and someone worth pointing a camera at.

That’s what the Alverton Hotel gave us.

Through the warmer months, the Alverton hosts a series of Summer Garden Sessions: guests eating al fresco on the terrace, drinks in hand, live music drifting across the gardens of one of Truro’s most quietly impressive historic buildings. They asked us to come along and capture it.

The artist that evening was Will Keating, one of The Oggymen, performing local song Cornwall My Home. If you know Will’s work, you’ll know it’s the kind of thing that suits a warm evening outdoors almost suspiciously well. We kept the setup simple and let the setting do the heavy lifting.

The brief was straightforward: help market the events series, give people a sense of what an evening there actually feels like. Less promotional video, more window into a moment.

It’s a small piece of work, but it’s one we’re fond of. Sometimes a project earns its place not because of its scale but because of what it captured. This one caught something genuine about a summer in Cornwall.
