Behind the scenes video production, filming from vehicle on location

Our Story

PixelRain started with food. Specifically, with a shared obsession for how food looks on screen. The steam rising off a pizza. The pour of a craft beer. The moment a dish comes together. We couldn't stop noticing it, and eventually we couldn't stop filming it.

From those early food and drink projects, we've grown into something broader. Destination films for tourism brands. Property content that turns browsers into bookers. Brand stories that capture what makes a company tick.

The thread that connects it all? Lifestyle and leisure. The places people go, the things they eat, the experiences they seek. Visual content that makes you feel something.

We're based in Cornwall and have been from the start. The light here, the landscape, the pace of life: it shapes how we see and how we work. But we're on the road constantly. London, across the UK, wherever the story takes us.

We're small by design. That's not a limitation. It's how we keep standards high and relationships real. Many of our clients have been with us for years. That's not luck. It's how we like to work.

Technical Director & Filmmaker

Rich Stephens

Rich is a filmmaker with a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for the craft behind great visuals. As Technical Director, he supports every stage of production, from filming through to post, ensuring the final product looks and sounds the way it should.

He shares shooting duties with Grant on set, capturing cinematic footage in a style they’ve developed together over many years. In post, Rich focuses on the finishing touches: colour grading, sound design, and audio mix. He also brings extensive drone experience to the team, often flying when aerial footage is needed.

Rich works closely with clients, helping shape projects from both a technical and creative perspective. He brings calm, clarity, and a quiet confidence that keeps things on track.

When he’s not working, he’s usually out exploring Cornwall with his family and camera. Always looking for good light and a great shot.

Creative Director & Filmmaker

Grant Batty

Grant is a filmmaker and editor with a calm, thoughtful approach and a strong instinct for story. As Creative Director, he helps shape each project from first brief to final delivery, bringing narrative clarity and emotional depth to everything we make.

On set, Grant films alongside Rich, capturing content with a shared visual style developed through years of collaboration. Back in the studio, he takes the first pass in the edit, weaving together picture, sound, and rhythm to create stories that feel honest and engaging.

Grant works closely with clients throughout the process and is often the creative guide on projects where tone and narrative are key. He brings focus, perspective, and an ability to put people at ease.

Outside the studio, Grant channels his creativity into the kitchen. He’s an Ooni ambassador, UK’s Best Home Pizza Chef 2024, and a sourdough enthusiast, always chasing the perfect pizza and the joy of sharing it.

The Extended Team

Every project is different. Some need just the two of us with a camera and a clear brief. Others call for a full crew: stylists, models, voiceover artists, motion designers, animators, sound engineers, drone pilots, location scouts, and more.

We’ve spent years building a network of trusted collaborators. Talented people we call on when a project needs specialist skills or extra hands on deck. They’re people we’ve worked with many times, who understand how we operate and share our standards.

This means we can scale to fit the brief. A solo shoot for social content. A small team for a brand film. A full production crew for something bigger. You’re not paying for capacity you don’t need, but it’s there when you do.

Whatever the size of the team, Rich and Grant are always on set and always leading the creative. That doesn’t change.

Wherever the story takes us

We film clients across the UK

We’re rooted in Cornwall. The light, the landscape, the creative community here shapes how we see and work. But we’re not a local studio that only works locally.

We travel constantly. London, Bristol, Devon, across the UK, and beyond when the project calls for it. Our entire operation is built to work remotely. Starlink on location, cloud based editing, Frame.io reviews. Distance isn’t a barrier. It’s just logistics, and we’ve designed around it.

Wherever you are, we’ve made it work for years. We’re used to being on the road, and the collaboration between shoots happens seamlessly wherever you are.
