Video Production, Rooted in Cornwall

We're a creative studio based in Cornwall, making films and visual content for lifestyle and leisure brands across the UK. This is where we live, where we work, and where we do our best thinking.

Video Production in Cornwall

Cornwall isn't just where we're based. It's shaped how we see and how we work.

The light here is different. Anyone who’s spent time in Cornwall knows it. But it’s more than that. Cornwall is an incredibly creative place. Artists, makers, filmmakers, designers, all drawn here and doing brilliant work across different fields. The pace of life suits it. There’s space to think, room to breathe, time to do things properly.

We’re Rich and Grant. We met while studying here and chose to base the business here for all of those reasons. Now we work with lifestyle and leisure brands who have stories worth telling. Food and drink, tourism, hospitality, property. The sectors where visual content genuinely moves the needle.

Being Cornwall-based doesn’t mean we only work locally. We’re on the road constantly. Devon, Bristol, London, wherever the project takes us. But Cornwall is home. It grounds everything we do.

Why Work With a Cornwall-Based Studio?

After years of filming across Cornwall, we know which beaches get the best morning light, which restaurants have the space for a crew, which lanes you definitely shouldn’t take the van down. Local knowledge saves time and produces better work.

Being based here also means we understand seasonality, weather windows, visitor patterns, and the reality of running a Cornwall business. That practical knowledge shapes how we plan and how we shoot.

Why Work With a Cornwall-Based Studio?

If you’re coming to Cornwall to shoot, whether you’re a fashion brand, a hospitality service, or a food producer, working with a local team makes sense. We know the locations, we understand the rhythm of the place, and we can help you capture something that feels authentic rather than like a postcard.

Why Work With a Cornwall-Based Studio?

There’s a reason Cornwall attracts creatives. The pace is different. The thinking is clearer. We’re not rushing between meetings on the Tube. We’re focused on your project, with the headspace to do it properly.

Why Work With a Cornwall-Based Studio?

Our systems are built to work from anywhere. We edit remotely, collaborate via Frame.io, and can be in London in an hour by air. Distance isn’t a barrier. It’s just geography.

Our Approach

Every project starts with understanding. Your brand, your audience, what you’re actually trying to achieve. We shape something that fits. No templates, no cookie-cutter approach.

On set, we work with a light touch. We’re not the crew that takes over your space with trucks and equipment chaos. We film in a way that lets real moments happen, and then we capture them beautifully.

In the edit, we take the time to get it right. We use Frame.io for reviews, so you can leave feedback frame-by-frame. Multiple rounds of refinement until you’re genuinely proud of the result.

One shoot, many lives

A shoot day shouldn’t produce just one video. It should produce a hero film, social cuts, website headers, photography, a clip library for future use. We think in ecosystems, not single deliverables. Every project should keep giving value long after we’ve wrapped.

Technical Director & Filmmaker

Rich Stephens

Rich is a filmmaker with a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for the craft behind great visuals. As Technical Director, he supports every stage of production, from filming through to post, ensuring the final product looks and sounds the way it should.

He shares shooting duties with Grant on set, capturing cinematic footage in a style they’ve developed together over many years. In post, Rich focuses on the finishing touches: colour grading, sound design, and audio mix. He also brings extensive drone experience to the team, often flying when aerial footage is needed.

Rich works closely with clients, helping shape projects from both a technical and creative perspective. He brings calm, clarity, and a quiet confidence that keeps things on track.

When he’s not working, he’s usually out exploring Cornwall with his family and camera. Always looking for good light and a great shot.

Creative Director & Filmmaker

Grant Batty

Grant is a filmmaker and editor with a calm, thoughtful approach and a strong instinct for story. As Creative Director, he helps shape each project from first brief to final delivery, bringing narrative clarity and emotional depth to everything we make.

On set, Grant films alongside Rich, capturing content with a shared visual style developed through years of collaboration. Back in the studio, he takes the first pass in the edit, weaving together picture, sound, and rhythm to create stories that feel honest and engaging.

Grant works closely with clients throughout the process and is often the creative guide on projects where tone and narrative are key. He brings focus, perspective, and an ability to put people at ease.

Outside the studio, Grant channels his creativity into the kitchen. He’s an Ooni ambassador and sourdough enthusiast, always chasing the perfect pizza and the joy of sharing it.

What Does Video Production in Cornwall Cost?

What types of businesses do you work with in Cornwall?

Our sweet spot is lifestyle and leisure brands. Food and drink producers, restaurants, hotels, holiday lets, tourism businesses, and experience providers. We also work with Cornwall-based businesses in other sectors who value quality visual content. If you’ve got a story worth telling, we’d love to hear about it.

How much does video production cost in Cornwall?

Projects typically range from £2,500 for smaller, focused pieces up to £15,000+ for larger campaigns. Most of our Cornwall projects fall in the £5,000 to £12,000 range, which gets you a properly planned shoot day, professional editing, and multiple deliverables. We’re always happy to discuss your specific needs and budget.

Do you travel outside Cornwall for projects?

Absolutely. We’re on the road regularly. Devon, Bristol, London, across the UK. Our systems are fully remote, so distance isn’t a barrier. Cornwall is home base, but the work takes us wherever it needs to go.

What's included in a typical video production package?

This varies by project, but a standard package includes pre-production planning and creative development, a shoot day with professional equipment, editing and colour grading, music licensing, and delivery in formats optimised for your platforms. Many of our projects also include social cuts, photography, or access to your own content library.

How long does a typical video project take?

From first conversation to final delivery, most projects take 4 to 8 weeks. That includes planning, the shoot itself, and editing with review rounds. We can work faster when needed, but we’d rather take the time to get it right than rush something out the door.

Do you offer drone filming in Cornwall?

Yes. We’re equipped for drone operation and use aerial footage when it serves the story. Cornwall’s landscapes often benefit from that perspective. That said, we’re not precious about it. If a drone shot doesn’t add anything, we won’t suggest one.

Can you help with social media content?

Definitely. Social content is a core part of what we do. Reels, short-form video, platform-native content designed for where it’ll actually live. Our Content Library offering is specifically built for this: every shoot produces a library of clips formatted for Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn that your team can use for months.

What should I prepare before a video shoot?

We’ll guide you through this during pre-production, but generally: think about locations, who might appear on camera, any products or items you want featured, and what you’re hoping the final content will achieve. We’ll handle the creative and technical planning. We just need you to show up knowing your brand.

Do you work with businesses outside the lifestyle sector?

We do, though lifestyle and leisure is where we specialise. If you’re a Cornwall business with a genuine story to tell and you value quality over quantity, we’re open to a conversation. The worst that can happen is we point you toward someone better suited.

What makes PixelRain different from other video production companies?

You work directly with us, Rich and Grant, throughout the entire process. No account managers, no hand-offs. We think in systems rather than single videos, so every shoot produces an ecosystem of content. And we’ve been doing this in Cornwall long enough to know exactly how to make the most of what this place offers.
